An introduction to restoring an older building

This one-day workshop is delivered by the Conservation Consultant and stone mason, Tom Pollard. It aims to equip those who are thinking of renovating or restoring an older building, but are not sure where to start. Topics including; how to assess the condition of an older building, the principles of conservation, the lessons learnt from work at Knockelly, organising and engaging the right professionals, grants and retrofitting are covered. The course also includes guided practicals to give attendees an opportunity to put theory into practice, in a real-world scenario. Due to a successful initial roll out and high demand, we will run this workshop again soon.

Who this workshop is for: anyone who owns, or who is considering buying an older building and intends to carry out renovation or repair works, but has limited knowledge.
Who this workshop in not for: professional tradespeople, or those who have an in-depth knowledge of conserving and repairing older buildings. Workshops geared towards those with an in-depth knowledge will be held soon. Please follow this website for information on upcoming events.
The workshop starts at 9:30am and concludes at 5pm.
Morning tea / coffee & lunch are provided.
Places are limited. Booking is essential.
To ensure an interactive, learning environment and to tailor the course for those attending, a maximum of 10 attendees will be permitted at each workshop.
